How can I connect a Xbox Original to a computer with a Ethernet cable?

I have a Xbox original and I would like to get the music off of it, with only a Ethernet cable to my computer Is there a way to do this?

You have to:
1. use a cross over cable.
2. or connect the xbox to a hub or switch, then connect the computer to the same hub or switch.

I did the same thing for xbox live because I was too cheap to buy a router.
